Plastic Surgeon Who Operated on Donda West Arrested for DUI

Dr. Jan Adams, the Los Angeles plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother shortly before she died, has been arrested for drunken driving, police said.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Adams was arrested early Thursday on suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license after police saw him going the wrong way on a California freeway, then determined his blood-alcohol level exceeded the state limit.

The Medical Board of California was seeking to suspend or revoke Adams' license because of prior alcohol-related arrests when Donda West, rapper Kanye West's 58-year-old mother, died last year after a breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction Adams performed, The Times said.

Adams told the newspaper everything seemed fine when he performed the procedures Nov. 9.

An autopsy report noted West likely died of heart disease, coupled with complications from the plastic surgery, The Times said.
