I should start off by saying I wish no ill will towards Owen Wilson, I really don't. He seems like a nice enough guy and I hope his life is back on track after the suicide attempt/overdose/undisclosed ailment/whatever it was that had him hospitalized last year. And I'm glad he's working again (even if it is with Jennifer Aniston). Having said that, I'm not unhappy that his new movie, "Drillbit Taylor," did shitty in its first weekend of release. The high school comedy, from Judd "I'm overrated and don't seem to know it" Apatow, took in only $10.2 million dollars, even though it was playing on over 3,000 screens, per The Hollywood Reporter. That's...not good. After "Knocked Up" and "Superbad" you know Paramount had higher hopes for it than that. So sad, too bad.
I think even Owen knew the think had stink bomb written all over it, as he didn't do any publicity for it. Ostensibly, the excuse was he was busy filming "Marley and Me" in Florida, but c'mon, let's get real. He's been in the business a long time--I'm sure he knows a tanker when he sees one. Hopefully, this new movie will fair better (even if it does include Jennifer Aniston).
