Britney Spears: Daughter AND Boss

Turns out making sure your trainwreck of a daughter doesn't end up wandering around panty-less in traffic is a full-time job.  Who knew?  Jamie Spears, apparently. 

Brit Brit's dad, who's been overseeing all of Crazy's affairs over the last few months was awarded $10,000 in back wages to cover the month of February, when he first started his job as co-conservator of Brit's estate.  He has been getting $2,500 per week since March, but turns out this job was bigger than even he thought.  Per the court request (via People):

"The responsibilities he has assumed as conservator ... have required [his] full-time attention.  As a result, he has been unable to continue to his prior employment and he has lost his source of income which he needs to pay his living expenses."

Dude, the guy totally deserves it.  Question: have we seen Britney flashing and crashing in the last 3 1/2 months?  No?  Money well spent, I say.

Britney Spears' New Vacation Buddy: Mel Gibson

Trainwrecks make strange bedfellows - so to speak, that is.  I'm not suggesting there's anything of the romantic nature going on between Britney and Mel Gibson, because--ewww!  He's married and about 30 years older than her.  Plus, he's got like 45 kids and Brit can't even handle the two she has.

No, nothing shady going on there--just some good old, vacation-time fun!  That's right: Brit Brit and Mel--along with her father and his wife--have gone on holiday together.  The foursome are heading to Costa Rica, where they'll stay at Gibson's house for a few days.  I bet it's a great house.  I'm sure the bar is well-stocked.  What?

The two have apparently been pals for a little while, with the first sighting of them taking place back in March, when they had dinner together at a Russian restaurant in Studio City.  At the time a source told People magazine that they had met up a few times since Brit's February "issues." 

"Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible."

They also used to be neighbors when Britney was living in Malibu and the source said there's no agenda behind the friendship, just "one neighbor reaching out to another." 

Well, that's just great.  My neighbor keeps me awake at 3 a.m. with his guitar playing, while Brit's neighbor takes her to Costa Rica. 

Life really isn't fair.

Third Appearance On "How I Met Your Mother" For Britney?

Tonight's the night for Britney's second "How I Met Your Mother" appearance and there's already talk she'll be back for more.  The show's creator, Craig Thomas, tells The Hollywood Reporter that her second appearance was written in a way to leave open the possibility that, yes, she will return.

"She was better than the first time and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series.  So there's a good plot reason why she's there. And when people watch Britney's second appearance on the show they'll see that the door is still open for her to come back."

Translation: If the ratings for tonight's show are as good as they were for her first appearance, you can bet the ranch that, come September, Brit Brit will be signed up for more appearances.  Hey, at least it's keeping her out of trouble.

Britney exits Bally Fitness in Culver City yesterday. For some reason, she reminds me of Barbie in these pics.  It must be the pink top and uncombed, straggly hair.

Britney Spears Gets Some Good News

 

Britney Spears was awarded more visitation time with her sons per a Tuesday court ruling.  Woohoo!  Drinks on Brit Brit! 

The exact amount of time she was granted is unknown, but her parents issued a statement basically admitting their daughter is a trainwreck but she's trying to get better.

"We are so pleased with Britney's progress, and we are appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress."

Kevein Federline's lawyer said the step was "cautious, but a step forward nonetheless" and that the kids are doing great.  Well, yeah, they've been out of Casa Cuckoo the last several months.  I'd be doing well, too. 

Brit Brit appeared "teary-eyed" early on in the proceedings, but after a break where she and her lawyers met with K-Fed and his attorney, she was in better spirits.  Guess she promised to behave herself. 

Oh, and Brit's second "How I Met Your Mother" appearance is next Monday, the 12th.  Maybe I'll actually try to catch this one.

Or maybe not.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are heading back to court today in their neverending battle over their baybees.  Brit Brit is expected to ask for more visitation time with the kids, something that was taken away from her when she...how shall I put this kindly?  Ah, yes, went bonkers.

K-Fed, who has been looking like freakin' Father of the Year material, was awarded primary custody back in January when the state of bonkerdom truly began.  Since then, Brit's been getting better, mostly because her father stepped in and took control of her affairs (legal ones, people.  Get your mind out of the gutter...though Adnan Ghalib went the way of the dodo bird rather quickly).  She's been working out, seeing the kids on a visitation schedule, and, for Brit, seems as normal as she's been in years.  Of course that's on a sliding scale, so...

Pop tart Britney Spears will appear on yet another episode of the hit CBS series, "How I Met Your Mother."

For now, nobody is publicly confirming, however a source told People that Spears and the show execs are anxious for her to appear again.

According to an anonymous source:

"The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more."

Sam Lufti Steers Clear Of Britney

Poor Sam Lufti!  Totally derailed from his course of being Britney's svengali by those interlopers known as her parents.  It's hard out there for a golddigger.

On Wednesday, Lufti's restraining order, requiring that he stay 250 yards away from Brit Brit, was extended until July 31st.  Sam didn't show up in court to dispute it, but his spokesman claimed Sammy just wants what's best for his erstwhile friend.

"He just agreed to it.  Sam and the family are communicating and cooperating, trying to do what's best for Britney."

Please!  Her family can't stand him.  Nice try there, though. 

In other more exciting news--if, by exciting, you mean something other than "oh, look, Britney forgot to wear panties again"--Brit's apparently back in the music studio and taking voice lessons.  A source told E! News:

"She's doing it just for fun.She's just sitting at the piano, singing a little. She's just in there to have some fun. It may lead to something down the road, but right now this is just part of her staying on the right track." 

She doesn't actually play the piano, does she?  I'm picturing her literally just sitting there and humming nursery rhymes.
