No Charges Against Amy Winehouse For Drug Video

Winehouse_hollywood_offender

Amy Winehouse is free to self-destruct another day.  The singer won't be charged in connection with a video that allegedly shows her using a crack pipe.  Per her rep:

"She was questioned by police last week and released on unconditional bail.  Amy’s bail date to return to Limehouse police station has been cancelled, bringing this matter to an end."

Well, that's a relief.  Wouldn't want her to have to actually answer to anything or--gasp--get scared straight.  Now she plans on getting back on track with her music.

"Amy is pleased to be able to move on and concentrate on music and particularly looks forward to seeing her fans again at eagerly awaited festival performances this summer."

I hope those tickets have a money back guarantee.  What?  Do you think she's a good horse to bet on at this stage of the game?

Anne Hathaway's Boyfriend Gets Off

Ho_anne_hathaway

Raffaello Follieri, otherwise known as Anne Hathaway's boyfriend, has been cleared of the bad check writing charge he was arrested for last month.

The Manhattan D.A. said Follieri wouldn't be prosecuted because he had fully reimbursed the $215,000 bouncer and the person he wrote the check to no longer wanted to pursue charges.  Which doesn't exactly sound like he wasn't guilty, rather that, you know, it was "all taken care of."  Sounds about 15 varieties of shady.

And, just me, or does this dude look like a bloated Zach Braff

Dennis Farina Arrested For Loaded Weapon

051108_dennis4_tmz

TMZ says actor Dennis Farina was booked Sunday on felony weapons possession charges.

Farina - who appears in the "What Happnes in Vegas" opposite Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher - was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport when he reportedly tried to take a loaded .22 caliber pistol through airport security in his carry-on luggage, but the weapon was discovered at a security checkpoint.

Farina told airport authorities he had put the gun in his luggage in Arizona, but forgot to remove it when he arrived at LAX.

Officers at the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division changed the booking from a misdemeanor to a felony after determining the gun was not registered. Prosecutors could eventually charge Farina with either a misdemeanor or felony.

Farina was being held on $25,000.00 bail.

Gary Dourdan Charged With Drug Possession

Ho_gary_dourdan

Gary Dourdan was officially charged with three counts of felony drug possession on Wednesday, CelebTV.com reports.  The drugs in question are heroin, cocaine, and Ecstacy, which were found by cops when police found him taking a little nap in his car parked on the wrong side of the street at 5 a.m.  Don't you hate when that happens?

If convicted, the CSI actor would get probation and could be ordered to attend a drug treatment program.  The charges don't include the possibility of jail time.  Does anything require jail time anymore?  Just asking, because all I ever hear are the jails are overcrowded yet every celebrity who gets arrested?  Doesn't go to jail.  You'd think there was a double standard or something, but I'm sure that's not it.  Couldn't be.

Dourdan's arraignment is set for May 28th.  Wonder if he'll cop to the drugs being his at that point or still contend the one-armed man left them in his car.

Amy Winehouse Arrested...Again

Ho_amy_winehouse

Such a pretty girl...

Amy Winehouse was arrested on Wednesday in London for drug use.  Oh, sorry: alleged drug use.  She was being questioned by Scotland Yard about a video that was obtained by the the UK newspaper, The Sun, back in January.  The video showed Winehouse inhaling crack cocaine.  Because that's brilliant.

Her rep released the following statement:

"Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment.  She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

A rep for Scotland Yard played by my rules and kept it short and sweet:

"[She] was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug,"

Not long after the tape was made public, Winehouse said 'yes, yes, yes' to rehab.  Last month she spent a night in jail for assault.  So, you see, she's clearly on the right path.  Ay yi ya...

Gary Dourdan: "The Drugs Weren't Mine"

Ho_gary_dourdan

Gary Dourdan has issued a statement about his arrest last week for drug possession and, quelle surprise, he's saying the drugs weren't his.  In a statement to "Access Hollywood," the "CSI" actor said that he had just been "responsible" for transporting a bunch of people to the Coachella Music Festival's VIP area and that he simply pulled over to the side of the road for a little nap when the cops busted him:

“I am blessed that the Sgt. realized that the luggage carrying whatever they found was not mine and that my tests have been coming back negative.  I’ve been happy to cooperate in any way to clear myself and go on with my blessed life.”

Wow, not bad.  Not as inventive as Lindsay Lohan's "these aren't my pants" excuse when she got popped last year, but still, impressive.  I give him a 9 for creativity, but only a 2 for originality.

But the best part is that not long after "Access Hollywood" posted this statement, which was an email sent to their reporter, Shaun Robinson, Dourdan issued another statement to "People" saying the first statement was a private email to a friend and it was not meant for public consumption:

"This was a personal text to a friend taken completely out of context. The exchange was not intended for air or publication."

Dude!  You sent a text message to a reporter on an entertainment show and actually thought it would remain private?  Are you sure your tests came back negative?

Uma Thurman's Stalker on Trial

Uma_thurman_hollywood_offender_3

An alleged stalker tried to force his way into actress Uma Thurman's film trailer during a film shoot in New York, an aide to the actress told a jury.

Joseph La Corte testified in the stalking-and-harassment trial of fan Jack Jordan:

"Her hands were shaking, she was soaked. She couldn't sit still. She didn't want to get dressed."

According to the New York Daily News, La Corte testified two Teamsters prevented Jordan from barging into Thurman's trailer in November 2005. La Corte then put the shaken actress into a vehicle for the one-block ride to set of "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."

Thurman, star of the "Kill Bill" series, was also planning to take the stand in what the prosecution called Jordan's two-year campaign of emotional blackmail:

Assistant DA Colleen Walsh told the court:

"The University of Chicago literature grad threatened suicide if she didn't date him.Tell the defendant, 'Enough is enough.' The price of fame is not this."

Jordan's lawyer, George Vomvolakis, said his client is a former mental patient who doesn't understand boundaries and thinks the whole thing is "romantic."

Wife of Vanilla Ice Drops Charges

Rapper Vanilla Ice won't be prosecuted for allegedly hitting his wife after all.

People magazine reported that Palm Beach County, Florida prosecutors said they decided against filing criminal charges against the rapper, real name Robert Van Winkle.

"There is insufficient credible evidence...due to the victim recanting her original statement and lack of an independent witness."

Vanilla Ice was arrested April 10 in Wellington, Florida after his wife told law enforcement officials he allegedly struck and kicked her.

Winkle attorney Bradford M. Cohen told the magazine:

"It was just a verbal argument. He didn't physically harm his wife."

A restraining order against the rapper has also been lifted.

Oteri_hollywood_offender

Songwriter Richard Fagan has been arrested in connection with the death of Gaetano Oteri, a Nashville music publisher.

The Tennessean, a Nashville newspaper, reported Tuesday that Nashville police said an argument broke out between the two friends before Oteri, 69, was killed with a pocketknife.

Fagan, 61, was been charged with criminal homicide and held without bond.

Investigators were piecing together details of the fight between country songwriter Fagan and his longtime friend, roommate and business associate Oteri.

Police said Fagan told investigators the stabbing occurred Saturday night after the two had been drinking and arguing. Fagan may not have known the knife wounds to Oteri's wrist were fatal, police spokesman Don Aaron said.

Fagan had success as a songwriter, with songs recorded by artists such as Neil Diamond, Shania Twain and Hank Williams Jr. Fagan also wrote No. 1 hit songs "Be My Baby Tonight" and "Sold," for John Michael Montgomery.

Oteri was the father of Cheri Oteri of NBC's "Saturday Night Live."
